Week 6 - Recognize Your Limitations

I’m creating this series to guide your reflections (and my own) during the period from Samhain (October 31/November 1) to Imbolc (February 1/2). Each week I’ll share my thoughts as we descend into the longest nights of winter and provide a prompt to encourage your connection with the ancestral wisdom and earthy quiet of winter. I’ll close with a mantra and simple meditation practice to support your personal weekly journey. If you’ve been feeling drawn, as I have, to live more aligned with the turning of the season, then I invite you to travel this path with me.

I'll begin this week's newsletter with an apology, both for the abbreviated content and for the likelihood that I may be absent for a week or two. I'm having surgery on Monday so I'm scattered today and I don't know how I'll feel next week.

So, the message this week is a reminder to nurture your body. It's bitterly cold in so many areas right now. Stay warm, stay hydrated, rest. This is not only a gift from nature, it's a directive.

Mantra: “I care for my body by honoring the rhythm of the season. I will eat nourishing foods, drink enough water, care for my skin, and get enough sleep.”

Meditation: Place your hands on your heart and belly. Breathe deeply, feeling warmth and gratitude for your physical form, remembering that your body carries the DNA imprint of the generations who contributed a part of themselves to create the unique person who is you. Everything you are is because of them.

This week I drew the Ten of Pentacles. We're nearing the end of the cycle, and this is the time to pause and reflect. Slow down, conserve your resources, and appreciate this time of quiet contemplation. You may already be thinking about the future, that's only natural, but do so by incorporating the lessons learned in the recent past.
